Leslie with Eria "Sane" in Uganda

Sane

It was during Jeri's first visit to Uganda in 2002 that she met a wonderfully talented young artist named Eria Nsubuga, otherwise known to the art world as Sane. While visiting the home of her dear friend, Jane, Jeri noticed a small framed butterfly done in ink and was taken by its fresh and simple beauty. She inquired who the artist was and Jane explained that it had been done by a young man she knew who lived in the neighboring town of Entebbe. Jeri asked to meet him and within hours heard the putt-putt of an approaching motorcyle. Upon arrival, Eria hopped from the back of the boda-boda (motorcycle for hire) and hurried to introduce himself.

In mere minutes he had produced numerous beautiful pieces of energetic, vibrant, whimsical artwork of a most unique style. They were all so  captivating that it was difficult to find a favorite. Jeri purchased several on that trip and continued to visit Eria in his home-studio near the shores of Lake Victoria on each subsequent visit to Uganda.

Recently, Jeri discovered that she had accumulated 135 of Eria's pieces of work over the years so has decided to share them and his talent with others. Please check our schedule of events and items for sale to view Eria's talent. All profits from Eria's work will be used to pay school fees for children orphaned
 by AIDS in Africa.
