Illume International is a 501(c)(3) voluntary organization that was founded in 2004 and is dedicated to providing a supportive environment to ensure sustainable lives for children orphaned by AIDS.
Mission
It is the goal of Illume International to provide sustainable means to a safe, supportive, nurturing environment for the education, well-being, and development of children orphaned by AIDS so as to ensure their survival and the realization of their fullest potential to be healthy, contributing members toward development of a just, fair and humane society.
Goals
♥ To offer a voice to children who have been orphaned by AIDS ♥ To provide advocacy to address the needs of orphans of AIDS and to undertake actions either directly or through alliances and partnerships that result in specific and sustainable solutions to meet those identified needs ♥ To foster sensitivity, compassion and empathy for orphans of AIDS and a desire by individuals to act on their behalf ♥ To provide a network of communication between our communities and those affected by the AIDS orphan crisis ♥ To preserve and protect the culture, heritage, and memories of children who are orphaned by AIDs ♥ To support Article 26, paragraph (2) of the United Nations Universal Declaraion of Human Rights - "Education shall be directed to the full development of the human personality and to the strengthening of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. It shall promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among all nations, racial or religious groups..."
